Glossary

This is just a simple glossary clearly defining the terms that I use often. This shouldn't be necessary, except that in a lot of detailed debates, some of these terms can become ambiguous. Therefore, this are the words as I use them, unless they are otherwise defined. Of course, I may have to make alterations from time to time. Where not otherwise specified, I take the Webster's 1828 dictionary to be authoritative.

  • Believe - To demonstrate faith in something through actions.
  • Bible - The Word of God as given in the 66 books, 39 in the Old Testament and 27 in the New Testament, infallible, and inerrant.
  • Christian - A person who seeks to act in a manner like Jesus Christ.
  • Confess - To agree with God so firmly on a point that you not only admit it verbally, but that you live in such a way that those around you can notice that stand through your actions.
  • Faith - A belief that is held without regard to proof, but that is held as the foundation for proof.
  • God - The God of the Bible, the only true and living God.
  • Regeneration - The process in which God transforms a person from a "dead" sinner into a "quickened" child of God.
  • Spirit - The eternal part of our being. It is the part which is justified by the finished work of Jesus, and it is possessed by humans, but not animals.
  • Soul - The thinking part of a living creature, also, the total sum of the person. Animals have souls, but plants do not. This part needs to be restored and needs the continual work of sanctification. This part is not what goes to Heaven as that is the spirit.

  • Romans 12:2

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
